“Howbeit, when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come (John 16:13).”

“And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand and when ye turn to the left (Isaiah 30:21).”

My dear friend and partner,

At the beginning of every year, many people look forward to what the year holds and what lies ahead in the next 12 months of the calendar year. No sooner than the clock tick past 12midnite and the shout of “Happy New Year” rent the air, comes the various predictions and prophecies on what the year has in store. It is almost becoming appauling that every “Tom, Dick and Harry” come on stage to speak and make predictions on what the year has in store. But, can we really trust every of such predictions? Can anyone just speak and reveal the plan of God for us, our family and nation in the new year? Who has God authorized to speak?

First, you need to know that God is very much concerned about your life and your future. He has some secret things about your future that he is willing to
reveal to you. Yet, not everyone that says, “Thus saith the Lord” are really speaking for God and can prophecy over your life. A lot of people are in bondage
and being deceived today by false prophecies and predictions which bring fear and anxiety to the hearts of men. The Bible asks us not to believe every spirit “but try the spirit whether they are of God, because many false prophets are gone out in the world (1 John 4:1)”. One way to detect a false prophecy is to look at the impact of such prophecy in the light of the word of God. According to 1 Corinthians 14:3, a true prophecy from God will bring you edification, exhortation and comfort. Any prophecy that brings you fear as a Christian is not from God, because God has not given you the spirit of fear (2 Tim 1:7).

Second, you must know that every prophecy that contradicts what the Bible says concerning you is a lie. In Second Peter 1:19, the Bible is referred to as  “a more sure word of prophecy”. It is more trustworthy and reliable than any spoken words of men. Therefore, seek to listen to God’s voice on the pages of the Bible than the report of men. Do not let your thinking and believe about the future be shaped by the predictions and wisdom of men. Believe what God says concerning you in the Bible as the truth. Remember, in Genesis 3:11, the first question God asked Adam, after the fall was: “Who told thee that thou was naked?” because God never say so. God knows Adam must have heard a different voice from what he told him. That was why he called himself  “naked” when God has not called him so. Hence, it does not matter whatever doom anyone has predicted about you or your future, if it is not according to what God says in His word, they are null and void. Every wrong counsel over your life is annulled today in Jesus name. Friend, put your focus and confidence this year on what God has said concerning you in his word and confess it over your life regularly. Let that be the final authority on what you believe and accept as the truth.

Furthermore, I want you to note that God has also authorized His spirit (the Holy Spirit) in you to speak to you and communicate the future He has in mind concerning your life to you.   The Bible says: “Whatever he(the Holy Spirit) hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come (John 16:13).”

He is the one who knows the past, present and future. As humans, we can only understand what has happened in the past and what is happening right now, and probably use that  to predict what may happen tomorrow. We do not know,  precisely, what the future holds because it is still hidden in time.  Hence, no  mortal being has the authority to speak as far as your future is concerned. Deuteronomy 29:29 says, “The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children forever”. That means, it is only God that knows the future and it is by revelation that we can access what is in the mind of God for us. However, according to 1 Corinthians 2:9, we know: “God has revealed them (the secret things) to us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God”.

Friend, if you are born again, you have the Spirit of God living in you and you can hear God when He speaks. The Holy Spirit is will guide you into your future. He will reveal things to come  and guides you in your day-to-day decisions. Stop looking around to men’s answers and predictions about the future. God wants to speak to you directly in a still small voice (Isaiah 30:21). I encourage you to look inward and listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit in you. He is ready to reveal deep secrets and wisdom that you need in possessing the best life that God has ordained in your future.

Thank you for ordaining 2011 as my season of FREEDOM as I understand the truth in your word and know you more. Grant me grace to apply your counsel and wisdom in my day-to-day decisions all through 2011 (Amen)”
